Arriving in Auckland this morning, find your way to the CBD and our accommodation. For those that find themselves arriving early, a leisurely activity may be arranged. Or feel free to explore the city. We will gather late afternoon and make our way to the wharf for our late afternoon cruise departure.
This afternoon we’ll cruise Waitemata Harbour aboard the historic and beautifully preserved 1935 built steam tug, William C Daldy, for an unforgettable cruise around Auckland’s stunning Waitematā Harbour. Feel the power of the original steam engines as you glide past iconic landmarks, under the Harbour Bridge, and alongside the city’s sparkling waterfront. With the scent of coal-fired steam in the air and the rhythm of the pistons beneath your feet, this is more than just a cruise- it’s a journey back in time.

Today is an easy day in Auckland as we take our coach to explore the Auckland area, including a visit to Devonport. A city tour leads us to our first destination, the Auckland War Memorial Museum which proudly sits above the Auckland skyline.
We then head to MOTAT, for time to see their impressive collection of aircraft, trams, trains, cars and more! Take a ride on the tram and see both sites, or revel in the impressive collection of trains and the award winning aircraft display hall.
This afternoon we head to Devonport, taking time to explore the area, you can choose to catch the ferry back across the harbour to our accommodation, which is only a 2 minute walk from the Auckland Ferry Terminal.
Otherwise we relocate back to our accommodation for the evening which is provided free at your leisure. You might like to take a short walk to Britomart Train Station for a late afternoon train ride around the Auckland Metro Network or go for a leisurely walk along the Auckland Waterfront to one of the many acclaimed restaurants.

Today we travel South to the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, the operators of our East & West Rail Tour, at their operational base in Waiuku, on the southern border of the Auckland and Waikato regions.
Here we have a specially chartered steam train on the 7.5km railway line, with plenty of photo stops and a stop at the workshop for a tour and to learn more about the railway’s history and its current operation. We are likewise treated to an elaborate High Tea Lunch.
With our bellies and camera’s full, we transfer to our accommodation for the night at Karaka’s DoubleTree by Hilton.
